How to register a .ba domain

An address ending in .ba says you are from here. Here is who can take one, what it costs and what to watch for.

Who can register a .ba domain

Anyone: a private person or a company. You need your name, an address and an email. The owner’s name is visible in the public registry; the rest is not.

What it costs

At local registrars about 55 KM for the first year and about 30 KM a year to renew. Foreign registrars charge up to six times as much for the same domain, so there is no reason to register it abroad.

Where it is done

At an accredited registrar; the list is on the registry’s site, nic.ba. You pay by bank transfer or card, and the domain is usually live within a working day. Before that, check whether the name is free.

How to pick a name

Whose domain it is

Yours, as long as you pay for it. Never let someone register it in their name “to make it easier”: then they own your address. When we build a site, we register the domain in your name and the management details are yours.

Questions people ask

.ba or .com? For a local business, .ba: it is shorter, cheaper, and everyone in Bosnia knows what it means. .com makes sense if you sell abroad too.

What if I forget to renew? The registrar reminds you. If you don’t pay, the domain becomes free again after a while and anyone can take it. That is why renewal is part of the yearly upkeep when we build a site.

Prices are approximate, from registrars’ price lists in October 2026.
