When Instagram is enough
If you are booked a month ahead, if customers come by word of mouth only and you are not looking for new ones, Instagram is enough. Save the money.
What Instagram can’t do
- Google. When someone types “frizer Tuzla”, Google shows websites and Google Business Profiles. Instagram profiles, rarely. That person is looking for you right now, and will find someone else.
- No login. Anyone can open a website, on any phone. Instagram wants an account and the app, and a good share of people over thirty-five don’t have them.
- Everything in one place. Prices, hours, address and a call button. On Instagram that is buried in posts and stories, and the same questions keep arriving.
- It is yours. The domain is in your name. It doesn’t depend on an algorithm and doesn’t vanish if someone hacks your profile.
What the simplest site needs
One page is plenty: the name, a few photos, prices, opening hours, buttons to call, message and open the map, and a link to Instagram. Have a look at an example; there is nothing complicated in it.
How to link the two
- The link in your bio goes to the website. It is the only place Instagram allows a link, so let it go to your own address, not someone else’s list of links. (A tidy bio with line breaks.)
- The website links back to Instagram, where your work and your stories are.
- The same name everywhere: on Instagram, on the domain, on Google.
- A QR on the window that opens the site or Instagram. (Make one here.)
